New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, owner of Monmouth Park, engaged HOK Event in 2005 to plan, manage and facilitate event operations for the 2007 Breeders' Cup, one of the biggest events in horse racing. Monmouth Park is hallowed ground in the equine business-they’ve been racing on the property since the mid 1800s. To accommodate a modern event on the scale of the Breeders' Cup, significant temporary structures were needed to accommodate the race crowd of over 45,000 in a facility that normally accommodates 6,000.

In order to enhance the spectator experience, 200,000 square feet of temporary tents were designed to accommodate VIPs, spectators and staff. 25,000 temporary seats were added as well as 2 miles of temporary fence, 7 temporary videoboards, 3 temporary heliports and numerous other accommodations. We also coordinated extensive renovation and upgrades to existing facilities that hadn't been used for years to complete this astounding event experience.

NJSEA management has been quoted as saying "HOK Event has raised the bar for Breeders' Cup events in the future."
